What type of work can be performed with the Svastha Acharya certificate?
This is an appropriate course for those who want to work with clients under the supervision of an Ayurveda Acharya.
This course prepares graduates to work as health educators, providers and promoters in their communities.

What type of training is not included and what type of work *cannot* be performed with the Svastha Acharya certificate?
This course does *not* train the student to diagnose diseased states. It is a preparatory course for the next level – the Ayurveda Acharya Certified Course.
What is the level of education of this course?
This course has been developed by AyurvedaFirst to provide authentic, professional training at a level that is a step above Health Counselors in the Allopathic medical world. It prepares graduates to practice classical Ayurveda in a Western cultural environment using the AyurvedaFirst team-based approach to sustainable health care.

How is this course administered?
This course takes place in a live virtual classroom where students can interact directly with teachers and other students. All classes are conducted in American English.
How many students per course?
Generally 10-20 students.
Do students have access to the teacher outside of class?
Yes. There are specified office hours for those who wish to communicate privately with the teacher.
What Ayurvedic education level can I expect my classmates to be?
The education level of the students may vary. Many students are studying Ayurveda professionally for the first time, while others may have studied Ayurveda in various capacities for several years or more. In order to help students start at a similar level we require a study preparation period of Sanskrit a few months before the course begins. You will need to know the Devanagari alphabet and the transliteration spelling and meaning of 100 common Sanskrit terms used in Ayurvedic medical practice. Please note that an exact pronunciation of Sanskrit terms is not required.
What are the requirements and prerequisites for being accepted into this course?
Strong memorization skills
A natural aptitude or capability to learn new languages
Able and willing to travel for two separate weeks for some exams, internship preparation and final certification.
High School diploma or equivalent
Basic Western human anatomy
Be at least 19 years of age by the time the course starts.

- AyurvedaFirst Svastha Acharya text books. These are the materials specifically developed for the course. There are 10 books – one book per class.
What is the duration of the course and how often is it offered?
This is a one-year course that is offered annually August – July.
What is the general class schedule?
1st Semester – late August 2017 to mid-December 2017
2nd Semester – January 2018 to April 2018
Supervised internship – May 2018 to June 2018 (partially onsite, location TBA)
Certification Exam – end of July 2018
What is the weekly time commitment, other than classes, to keep on schedule with this course?
Approximately 20 hours per week depending on the student.
Do I need to travel at any time for the course?
Yes. Two separate weeks for exams and internship.

What is the application fee?
$50 non-refundable fee
Is there an interview process for acceptance into the course?
Yes. There is a 30-60 minute face-to-face in person interview or video call. It will be a discussion of the requirements and prerequisites.
Does the Svastha Acharya certification require renewal?
There will be a renewal certification process and continuing education credits that will be announced later in 2017.
